twin rocks
Off the rugged Oregon coast, the Twin Rocks emerge as stoic sentinels amidst the tumultuous waves, casting a spellbinding aura over the landscape.
This spot holds a special place in my heart as one of my favorite outdoor landscape photography locations, one that I’ve returned to photograph year after year.
Not only do I capture the natural beauty of the Twin Rocks, but I also indulge in portraiture with both people and pets in this captivating setting.
Often, I employ a large wattage mono-light with various modifiers in high-speed sync to seize the dramatic skies that frequently adorn this scene. Weather, a formidable force along the coast, has become a companion on my photographic journeys.
From the sunniest days to the fiercest storms, I’ve learned to adapt and utilize the elements to my advantage. For the most challenging conditions, I come prepared with a three-sided tent securely staked down, helpers to assist with holding lights and modifiers (as even a slight breeze can turn a large modifier into a sail), and a sturdy c-stand with a heavy weight to ensure the safety of expensive strobes.
